Dave Stuckey’s Barndance Boogie

As Ameripolitan Award-winning artists, honored with Western Swing Female of the Year in 2019 and Western Swing Band of the Year in 2020, The Farmer & Adele are leaders in the modern revival of Western Swing. Known for their artistry and educational approach, they create cowboy-style performances that are as timeless as they are engaging – for audiences of all ages. From their popular daily radio show, “On The Trail with The Farmer & Adele,” to the release of “Songs for Lil’ Cowpokes,” they continue their mission to honor both the tradition and the future of Western Swing.

Ameripolitan’s 2019 Musician of the Year Deke Dickerson created the Whippersnappers to showcase a much younger set of musicians than the roots veterans he often appears alongside. His crack band members appreciate the retro music Deke plays, and they actually write their own music in the genre. Western swing, Honky Tonk and Hillbilly music describes the Whippersnappers playlist, and the tightly talented group plays it perfectly.

Another Ameripolitan Award-winner is our Barndance Boogie host Dave Stuckey, who took the prize for Western Swing Male Vocalist in 2020, and is known far and wide for his work with the Dave & Deke Combo, The Hot House Gang, the Lucky Stars and the Hoot Owls. A musical encyclopedia, Stuckey has forgotten more about Western swing than most folks will ever learn.

DJ Snakebite Sven is becoming legendary among Western Swing DJs with his vast variety of vinyl.

Join us at Campus JAX in Newport Beach as we showcase several of the leading artists playing the swingin’ dance music we all love to hear.

About the Venue: Campus JAX

“Newport Beach’s only supper club”, Campus JAX features cabaret-style shows with dining, dancing, and seating at tables or the bar in an intimate listening room.

Christopher Burkardt’s Stellar Shows (some of you may remember their shows at Don the Beachcomber) puts on a good number of Swing-danceable bands there every month. There is a large stage and good dance floor.

It is a supper club so a purchase is required, but there is no drink minimum. Food is Cajun/Creole and gets an impressive four-and-a-half stars on Yelp. Dinner prices range from $10-$18. Of course, there’s also a full bar.

They put out multiple water tanks for dancers. Everybody has a seat – but you need not stay in your seats!
