From SwingDance.LA
The Mayflower Club is a British-American Social and Networking Club that was originally a gathering place for British expats, but is now open to everyone. It’s in a nondescript brick building in an uninteresting part of North Hollywood, on Victory Blvd. southwest of Burbank Airport. The wood-paneled interior reminds me of one of the Masonic Lodges that Swing dance events are so often held at.
But, none of that matters if the band is good and good dancers show up, and the Mayflower Club has been hosting some great events! Some bands booked there include the Crown City Bombers, Douglas Roegiers, Aileen Quinn, The Holy Crow Jazz Band, Luke Carlsen, and The Moontones.
In addition to those special events, Woody James 16-Piece Big Band plays most Friday afternoons from 1 to 3 PM. Cover is $10.
Most evening events are $20 or $15 for members. You can become a member by paying the membership fee ($35 as of this writing) at the door.
