Grace Fae and The Grandbirds will play at The Barkley Restaurant and Bar in Pasadena on Saturday, September 30th from 9pm-1am. Versatile vocalist Grace Fae leads this jazz quintet, specializing in swinging tunes from the 1920s to the 1940s. This is an ensemble of greats, with the legendary Ken Park on drums, virtuoso Ian Solomon on upright bass, the brilliant Brian Clemens on piano and multi-talented Corey Gemme on clarinet, trumpet AND trombone!
Grace has a warm vintage sound reminiscent of Peggy Lee & Ella Fitzgerald. She sings classic tunes by Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Irving Berlin, the Gershwin brothers, and Duke Ellington in new and energizing interpretations. We added some special sultry blues tunes & jazzy covers of Alicia Keys, Cyndi Lauper & Patsy Cline just for this show!
Come on out to this large vintage venue to eat and drink and enjoy the music, and please come SWING DANCE- we got the beat! 🕺🏻🎷💃
There is no cover & the music is free!! The Barkley serves a full dinner menu including steak, pasta, salads & starters until 10 pm. Full bar and beer & wine all night. Drinks & dinner are CASH ONLY, sorry for the inconvenience! Parking is easy & free in the attached lot or on the street.

The Barkley is a neighborhood restaurant in South Pasadena which recently started having some very good bands to Swing dance to. Some people remarked that it feels kind of like a “slightly upscale Joe’s Bar”, which is a pretty good description. The food is reasonably priced, mostly American.
The wooden dance floor is not huge but holds about 10 couples doing Balboa.
The Barkley regularly hosts dancer-favorite bands like Dave Stuckey and the Hot House Gang, and the Big Butter Jazz Band. With such good music, the turnout of Swing dancers is often surprisingly good, but bring your own partner to be safe. Dancers usually show up during the second set (around 10PM)
The bands start between 9 and 10 PM and usually go till 1 AM, so you could even hit up PBDA first, and then come here for late-night dancing.
