Swing Dancing at Pour Vous Could End Without Greater Turnout

One of the organizers of Swingtronic at Pour Vous has informed me that turnout will be evaluated this Wednesday March 20th and Wednesday April 3rd to determine if Swing dancing is “worth keeping” there. (There will be no event on Wednesday March 27th).

Pour Vous is an amazing bar, styled after a Parisian nightclub and featuring a vintage-styled interior and an authentic old trolley car in the back patio!

Swingtronic happens Wednesday nights at Pour Vous and features authentic Swing and Gypsy-Jazz bands like The Big Butter Jazz Band, The California Feetwarmers, and many others. In fact, over fifty bands have played there over the years and many have debuted there including the Holly Street Stompers, Marquis and the Rhythm Howlers, Benny Bryden’s Swing Machine, and the Nifty Healers.

There is no cover for Swingtronic at Pour Vous. The only income they get is from drinks and their crepe bar.

Swingtronic at Pour Vous is one of my favorite places to dance at. There are usually top-notch dancers there, but attendance has been inconsistent. Most of the people who go dress vintage or dress up.

If you’d like to see Swing dancing continue at Pour Vous, please come out one of these two Wednesdays! It would be a shame to lose Swing dancing and live vintage Jazz at this amazing venue! – Brian

I went recently. The venue is visually attractive, but the dance floor was too crowded to have speakers (or any equipment), and while I didn’t struggle with the lighting, two follows complained to me that they didn’t feel safe dancing since it was so dark.

I’d love to see the place kept alive for swing dancing, and two small changes could make a big difference.
