Promote Your Event on SwingDance.LA

SwingDance.LA is the number one Google search result for “Los Angeles Swing Dancing”.  That’s why I encourage you to promote your Swing dance event here for free! Here are some ways for you to promote your swing event, band, lessons, or dance troupe on SwingDance.LA for FREE.

Simply post the event information on my front page comment wall. No need to fill out a form!

You can leave a written description of your event or upload your event flyer in all its glory (not just a link, but the actual flyer!). This can have a great visual impact, and it’s just below the calendar, where a lot of people will be looking.

The Lindy Calendar Requirements

When you post, I’ll see your event and add it to the calendar if it’s appropriate. To be listed on the Lindy Calendar, your event must meet these conditions:

It must have Swing dancing!
I will make exceptions for Blues. Sorry, no Tango, Salsa, Ballroom, or West Coast Swing on this site. And I generally don’t post lessons or else it would get out of control quickly.

It needs to have a dance floor or space to dance.
I won’t post jazz concerts that don’t have space to dance. Dancing is the whole point. Any true swing dancer will say that playing swing music without providing space to dance is cruel. Some restaurants push this limit by not having a true dance floor. I will still post these if they push tables out of the way for dancers.

It needs to be in the greater Los Angeles or Orange County area.
If your event is out of town, I encourage you to post it on the comment walls. However, the calendar is only for local events unless it’s a very special big event out of town.

There needs to be a website or Facebook page for me to link to. IMPORTANT!
The Lindy Calendar needs something to link to. Create a Facebook Event for your event if you don’t have a website.

If you have a special event, can work on a special promotion. Let me know what you have in mind. For example, the Hollywood Bowl offered SwingDance.LA readers a discount tickets to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Leave a comment below to discuss.

Write an article for SwingDance.LA

I’m always looking for content! Talk to me in advance and we can work on an article about your event that would work on SwingDance.LA.

How you can help me

Because I am a swing dancer, I welcome free passes to your events! :-)

Also, I would tremendously appreciate it if you linked to on your site and mentioned it on your Facebook page and Twitter feed!

Thanks, Brian.

  1. Hello Brian,

My name is Jennifer and I am with the Philharmonic Society of Orange County. We will be presenting the West Coast premiere of Caleb Teicher’s newest dance piece More Forever on February 12 at Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, and I wanted to offer you and your readers a 20% discount on tickets.

A little more about the presentation—described as humorous and sentimental, whimsical and heartbreaking, More Forever, is a stunning and sensitive evening-length work that explores the unique potential of sand-dancing using such American dance traditions as tap, vernacular jazz, and lindy hop.

Tickets available at or by phone: (949) 553-2422.
Save 20% with promo code FOREVER.
Offer valid until February 12 at 7pm

I hope to see you there!

  2. We have a really strong dance weekend coming up in Long Beach!
Friday night is Wayne “the Train” Hancock at the PCH Club.
Wayne plays hillbilly boogie, texas blues and western swing and dancers love him.
He starts at 8:15- 10:15 so it is not a late night. He is followed by an after-party rockabilly band.

Saturday night is Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, Russell Scott and His Red Hots plus Lil’s Sue & the Cow Tippers for a fun night of dancing on a big hardwood floor. 8 – 11:30.

PCH Club is inside the Golden Sails Hotel at 6285 E/ Pac Coast Hwy Long Beach
Free parking, dinner available and great atmosphere.

  3. Hi Brian,

My name is Samantha Newman and I am an event coordinator for a 1920s-themed New Years Eve Party for 2019. Since we are going into the new decade of the 20s, I wanted to do something to commemorate the 100 years it took to get us here.

I want this party to be more than just your typical “Gatsby” themed party, and really inspire the guests with art, poetry, music, and performances much like the private parties of A’Leila Walker.

I came across your blog and wanted to reach out to you to extend a free invitation to the party.

I was also hoping that you could help get the word out about my party as well. We are currently raising funds to cover the costs of the event:

We have been doing well so far, but I really want to reach people who might be interested in attending, and I think your audience covers that. We will have a dance floor and swing music :)

A little bit more about the party: It is in Woodland Hills at the Penfield Mansion, and so far we have booked a magician, swing dance instructor, and a Casino Night service. The Casino Night is a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles. We would like to shoot for around 200 people to be there. We will also have a “speakeasy room” where we will be featuring local artists and poets to showcase their work in a relaxed environment away from the main area of the party.

You can read more about the event on our website,

  4. Hi Brian, I read your information about promoting dance opportunities in the greater LA area. Can you direct me to a spot to promote an event celebrating our one year anniversary of Bend Lindy Hop in Bend, Oregon? We are partnering with Boise City Swing and bringing over instructors to host a weekend lindy exchange. I am responsible for contacting scenes in California. Thank you for your assistance if you have the available time to respond.

  5. Bop till you drop this Friday 2/16 at Don The Beachcomber!
Carl Sonny Leyland trio, Ashley Kingman & the talented singer Kay Marie combine to bring you the best in Boogie Woogie, Rockabilly & Swing music in the tiki palace in Huntington Beach.

It’s Rocka-Boogie Bop w/ Leyland, Kingman and Marie and it is a chance to dance, dine and/or drink with some of the best music in the land.

Full dance floor and free parking.
